The success of Warner Bros. Television's series CHEYENNE paved the way for more Western series. 1957 saw WBTV premiere three westerns including COLT .45, a loose adaptation of the 1950 film. Set in 1870s American West, Colt .45 starred newcomer Wayde Preston as Christopher Colt, a man working undercover on assignment for the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps.
